  • Basic obedience is a dog knowing to sit, down, come, stay, and place. The “place” command is a targeted location such as a comfy dog bed that you can send your dog to. It starts by introducing these commands to your dog and working your way up to a mastery level.

  • I consider myself a balanced trainer, meaning I use all four quadrants: positive and negative reinforcement and positive and negative punishment. That’s not to say that during training you should devote 25% to each quadrant, in fact, if done correctly balanced training can be 90% positive reinforcement.

  • I like to use whatever works, if your harness or flat collar is working, no need to change that. If a prong collar or slip is suitable for the individual dog and situation, yes. I was extremely hesitant and against these tools when I first started dog training, but the more I educated myself the more I learned about all the misinformation and stigmas surrounding these tools. If used correctly, they do not hurt your dog. I will never use anything on a dog I have not used and tested on myself thoroughly.

  • Private training is customized. It fits your schedule and your dog’s needs. We have better control of distractions so you and your dog can concentrate on the task at hand. We work exactly at your family’s pace and provide more personalized instruction which means no wasted time.

  • All breeds, all ages! All dogs deserve our commitment to a happy and healthy life, with no exceptions! The more obedience your dog knows the more responsibility you can entrust them with, and the more free a life they can live.

  • The safety of your dog and the people around it are of the utmost importance. I would suggest starting with a virtual lesson to discuss the history of your dog, specific triggers, what training you’ve tried, etc. If I cannot work with your dog, I will refer you to someone who can.

  • E-Collars are great tools if you want to train your dog in off-leash obedience. I can train your dog using e-collar technology, the only prerequisite is that your dog already has excellent basic obedience on leash. You should never use an e-collar to teach basic obedience, it should only be used to reinforce what your dog already knows.

  • Absolutely not! Dogs can learn new things at any age and the mental stimulation is great for them.
